Over the Garden Wall. It's technically a mini series, not a movie, but since every episode is only 10 minutes, you can watch the whole thing in the time it would take you to watch a movie, anyway. Everything about that series just makes me want to curl up on the couch with a blanket…Â
So cliched, but I always, always recommend Cowboy Bebop to people new to the genre. It's the ultimate anime classic, the English dub is phenomenal, and it's about bounty hunters in space! What's not to love?

Grave of the Fireflies. It's about two orphans of war and their struggle (and ultimate failure) to survive in WWII Japan. You know right from the opening scene that both of the main characters have died, but that doesn't lessen the emotional impact one bit. I'm really hard pressed…Â
