Mitt Romney Trolls Obama Citing RomneyCare, Still Says He Never Wanted It To Go National

The former Massachusetts governor attacks the president on health care, citing his reform in Massachusetts.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney took to Facebook Wednesday to troll President Obama, arguing that while his health care reform plan in Massachusetts is an example of good reform, it should not be used as a model for the nation.

The text of Romney's Facebook post:

In the years since the Massachusetts health care law went into effect nothing has changed my view that a plan crafted to fit the unique circumstances of a single state should not be grafted onto the entire country. Beyond that, had President Obama actually learned the lessons of Massachusetts health care, millions of Americans would not lose the insurance they were promised they could keep, millions more would not see their premiums skyrocket, and the installation of the program would not have been a frustrating embarrassment. Health reform is best crafted by states with bipartisan support and input from its employers, as we did, without raising taxes, and by carefully phasing it in to avoid the type of disruptions we are seeing nationally.

Romney maintained a tortured relationship with his health care law during the 2012 presidential campaign, being crutched by the law from attacking Obamacare with the same vigor as his primary rivals. But Romney contended, as he still does, that he never suggested RomneyCare as it came to be known could go national. Dozens of examples leading up to 2010 show this not to be the case.

Romney suggested at least 10 times that his plan in Massachusetts could serve as the model for national health care reform.
