Another silent comedy, this one from the master Buster Keaton. Kids will delight in his deadpan and truly amazing stunts.
2. A Night at the Opera (1935)
The Marx Brothers at their wacky, kid-entertaining best. Come for Harpo; stay for Groucho.
3. City Lights (1931)
There's a reason Chaplin's regarded as the master comedian of silent cinema, and City Lights is him at his best (and most child friendly). Plus: such a sweet tale of falling innocently in love.
4. Top Hat (1935)
Your kids may like dancing. Your kids may hate it. But no matter what, Top Hat will make them look at it differently. Guaranteed to mesmerize for all 101 minutes. Bonus: Fred Astaire is truly hilarious.

I guarantee you that any kid with any sense of playfulness will LOVE this movie. It's a good way to break kids into "old" movies, too — not black and white, a fantastic plot, so much film history, and dancing that will knock the socks off both kids and adults.
7. Bringing Up Baby (1938)
Of all the Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn pairings, this one's the most rambunctious and kid friendly. Bonus: lots of animals, and a giant dinosaur skeleton that's sure to please. Bonus Bonus: Hepburn's one of the best female role models of any era.
8. Meet Me in St. Louis (1942)
Wizard of Oz is a natural pick, but Meet Me in St. Louis will give kids a dose of Judy at her finest. Bonus: lots of history (it takes place at the 1904 World's Fair) and your kids will want to go on every trolley they see.
9. Mary Poppins (1964)
This one's always a certain hit with kids, in part because there's two young kids to serve as their point of identification. Both Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke are just magnetic — and the songs are just as catchy as anything from modern day Disney.
10. Some Like It Hot (1959)
This one isn't for 6-year-olds, but 10- to 12-year-olds will find it endlessly amusing. The wit and physical humor are amazing, and it's the perfect first exposure to Marilyn Monroe, who's truly hilarious.
