Matt Murphy

Murphy won the lottery by catching Barry Bonds' record-breaking homer last night.

The 22-year-old Mets fan from Queens beat out the ballhawks to catch number 756. The ball from the record-breaking hit will be worth anywhere from $500,000 to $700,000. That'll buy a lot of beer and peanuts - but what will the taxes look like?

Editorial note: Whoa! You've found a super-old post here on BuzzFeed, from an earlier era of the site. It doesn't really represent where we are anymore, and may in fact be totally broken, but we're leaving it up as a part of our early history.
