19 Paranormal College Campus Stories That Will Mess You Up For Days

This definitely isn't Casper the Friendly Ghost.

We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us their chilling haunted college campus stories. Here are the terrifying results.

WARNING: Some readers may find these stories disturbing.

1. The room in Trinity Hall:

"I go to Texas Lutheran, and supposedly a girl died in one of the rooms in Trinity Hall. Ever since then, her room has been closed off, and no one is allowed in except residence life staff. One day I heard a ton of banging above my room and called my RA. We went upstairs, and maintenance opened the door. We saw very human-like scratches and blood-looking stains all over the walls. The ceiling was completely black, and there was about an inch of water on the floor and dripping down the walls. Totally unexplainable."

2. The man in the window:

"One night, I had come home from my internship and sat down to watch some TV. The couch faced a large window, and the TV was off to the corner. It was during the winter, so it was dark out, and I decided to look out the window at the forest. Not only did I see my reflection, but I also saw the reflection of a man standing behind me, bent over, staring at me just inches from my face. When I looked back, he was gone."

3. The haunted mansion:

"I went to Williams and Mary right by Colonial Williamsburg. It's a common thing for students to visit the Peyton Randolph house where a number of odd deaths have occurred. I went with my friends one night, and I got dizzy and suddenly had a terrible stomachache. Later, my friends showed me pictures they took and there were odd shapes in the windows, almost like faces. We went back one night, around Christmas, and all the windows in town had electric candles in them. As we peered into a window, suddenly every candle went out."

4. The little girl in the mirror:

"I went to the second-oldest seminary in the country, which used to be a Civil War hospital. One night, I had a dream of a little girl laughing at me in the bathroom, looking out at me from the mirror. When I woke up, I was no longer in bed, but standing in the bathroom in front of a mirror."

5. The girl with long black hair:

"I went to Woodridge College in South Africa, and there is a story about a girl named Cassandra who died on campus about 30+ years ago. One night I went to the bathroom and heard the tap dripping, so I walked over to close it. I looked up, and in the mirror behind my shoulder was a girl with long, black hair in a white nightgown. I really didn’t see her face because I ran out so fast."

6. The head between the mattress and the wall:

"I live on-campus at Chapman University, and one of my roommates has a tendency to talk and giggle in her sleep. One night, I woke up to the sound her talking and climbing out of her bed. In the darkness, I could just barely make out her adjusting her mattress. The next day, she said she was woken up by a head located in the crack between the wall and her bed asking her if she could move her mattress because it couldn’t breathe."

7. The room:

"I attended a weekend conference with my cousin at Loyola Marymount University where my aunt worked. As soon as we got off the elevator, I immediately felt an overwhelming sensation come over me. When we got to our room, I felt as if I had no control over my own body and began to tremble as I uncontrollably cried. We changed rooms down the hall, and I never had an issue unless we passed that room or was near the elevator. A few weeks later, my aunt received a letter from nuns who stayed in that room, stating how they also felt the same overwhelming rush and they thought there was an evil spirit there."

8. The dark, crawling figure:

"I lived in Wells Hall at the University of Wisconsin, which is considered the most haunted dorm on campus. It was around 2 or 3 a.m. when I looked over at my roommate and saw a dark figure crawl out from under her bed and then crawl back under. I was nearly in tears and couldn't breathe because I was so terrified."

9. The crouching man:

"I attended Flagler College, and one of the women's dorms is located in what used to be an old hotel. Once when I came back to my dorm, every single closet and dresser door was wide open. When I left, everything was closed, and my roommate had been out of town that weekend. Also, my roommate told me she saw a man crouching by my bedside in the middle of the night. He stayed for a minute or two before standing up and disappearing."

10. The bathroom stall in Keating Hall:

"Keating Hall on the Ringling College of Art Design campus, previously a hotel, was famously haunted by Mary, a prostitute who hanged herself in the '20s. A student told me that they were doing a self-portrait in the mirror of the communal bathroom one night. He knew someone was in the stall behind him because their feet were sticking out. They were taking a long time so he turned around, but the stall was empty. The creepy part? When he looked back in the mirror the feet were still visible."

11. The children with black eyes:

"I was awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of kids playing and talking. It was dark, but I saw two kids sitting on my roommate’s bed. They turned to look at me and their eyes were all black! I don’t know what happened after that — I think I fainted because my roommate found me lying on the floor in the morning. Needless to say, I rented an apartment nearby after that incident."

12. The unexplained scratches:

"I live in one of the older dorms on campus, and my roommates and I have always heard rustling sounds. We searched the room to see if we could find some kind of animal or source of the noise, but we didn't find anything. Later on that night, I was writing a paper and out of nowhere two scratches appeared on my arm. The scratches burned for about five minutes and then stopped. I still live in the dorm and I've found new, unexplainable scratches on my body almost everyday since then."

13. The upside-down pictures:

"My roommate and I were convinced that our room was haunted. Things would always fall off of our walls in the middle of the night for no reason at all. Sometimes we’d come back after classes and some of our pictures on the wall would be upside-down. We couldn't come to a reasonable explanation for any of it."

14. The forbidden third floor:

"Legend has it that there was a fire on the third floor of my building, and someone died there. Students were only allowed to live on the first, second, and fourth floors — the third floor was blocked off. One night while I was sleeping, I was awoken by the sound of heavy furniture being moved around on the floor above me. When I called for my roommate, I heard violent banging on the wall by my bed, the ceiling overhead (of the unoccupied floor), and the wall opposite me. When I mentioned the terrifying experience to my roommate, she said she had experienced the same thing before but was too scared to bring it up."

15. The girl in the corner:

"I went to Keene State, and I was staying in my boyfriend's room in Fiske Hall. We were going to sleep when I had a feeling that someone was watching me. He had a habit of giving his room code out, so it wouldn’t be unusual if someone had come in to crash the night. When I opened my eyes, there was a little girl standing in the corner. She didn’t say anything, but just kept staring. I asked her who she was, and she immediately turned around and walked right through the wall. I didn’t sleep after that."

16. The haunting of Lisa:

"I go to the University of North Georgia and at one point lived on the top floor of Lewis Hall. The story goes that a woman named Lisa was engaged when her fiancé got drafted and subsequently died in combat. Lisa was so distraught that she killed herself in her room. If any of the girls had pictures of their boyfriends up, she would knock them off the wall or desk. I hung pictures of my family, friends, and fiancé on my wall and left for class one day. When I came back, all of the pictures were still there except the ones with my fiancé in them."

17. The dish smasher:

"I lived in the notoriously haunted Tainter Hall at University of Wisconsin–Stout. I was asleep on the top bunk when I heard a huge crash. I was too freaked out to get up and look, so I just tried to ignore it and go back to sleep. The next morning when my roommate got home, she asked if I had been drunk and angry the night before because all our dishes were smashed around the room! There was no way this could have happened on accident since they were securely placed in the cabinets."

18. The angry butler:

"I lived in the notoriously haunted building on campus. It was an old mansion that had been donated to the college. Legend has it that there was a little girl who was murdered by the butler there. I lived in the basement of the building, and one night as I was lying in bed, I turned over when all of the sudden there was this angry male figure rushing toward our window. I thought it was my roommate, so I asked if that was her to confirm, but she hadn't gotten up in the last five minutes."

19. Finally, the little girl in the white dress:

"My friend and I were at our boyfriends' off-campus apartment. My friend was sleeping in his room when she woke up and saw a little girl in a white dress standing in the corner of the room. A year later, I decided to google haunted places in our college town. I stumbled upon a message board from five years prior. A college student had posted that they kept seeing a little girl in a white dress in their apartment building. I quickly googled the location of the apartments, and they were right next door to our boyfriends' old place."
