About 200 people crossed the U.S. border this weekend because of a loophole that allows individuals to use "key words" to cross.
By citing "credible fear" of drug cartels, people were allowed across the border, border patrol agents at the Otay Crossing south of San Diego told Fox 10.
An individual who wished to remain anonymous told Fox 10, "They are being told if they come across the border, when they come up to the border and they say certain words, they will be allowed into the country."
Pete Nunez, a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California told Fox 10 allowing people to cross the border for using key words is "a huge loophole." "This will swamp the system," he said.
