9 Unexpectedly Awesome Musical Moments To Come From TV

Warning: Minor Spoilers. Also, you will have at least one of these songs stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

    "Under Your Spell"

    Show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Episode: "Once More, With Feeling" (6x07)

Why, you ask? So somebody decided to summon a demon named Sweet who forces people to burst out into song and dance.

Fun Fact: A lesbian relationship? With them showing romantic interest in one another!? This is probably the closest any show had ever gotten to showing a lesbian sex scene.

Also, I could've added every song from "Once More, With Feeling" to this list, but this one is my favorite.

"Open Your Eyes" by Snow Patrol

    Show: The Office

    Episode: "A.A.R.M." (9x22/23)

Why, you ask? Pam said she didn't think she was enough for Jim, so he makes what's pretty much a fan video for their relationship.

Fun Fact: The video above is not the actual scene, but a fan re-creation. The whole scene can be found here, albeit at a much lower quality.

    "Guy Love"

    Show: Scrubs

    Episode: "My Musical" (6x06)

Why, you ask? A lady falls unconscious in the parking lot with some mysterious illness/disorder/whatever, I can't remember.

Fun Fact: This episode rocks. It was nominated for five Emmys.

"Nothing Suits Me Like A Suit"

Show: How I Met Your Mother

    Episode: "Girls Versus Suits" (5x12)

Why, you ask? A girl has dated Wall Street dickheads before, so has no interest in suited-up Barney. So he (obviously) proceeds to try and trick her by acting all Casual Joe and dressing down, but she finds his suits and makes him choose.

Fun Fact: Neil Patrick Harris is awesome and his husband went to my high school (kinda). Also, his Tony opening musical numbers are legen-wait for it-dary.

"The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis

    Show: American Horror Story: Asylum

    Episode: "The Name Game" (2x10)

Why, you ask? Something about electroshock therapy.

Fun Fact: This show scares me and I don't watch it. But I do love this song. Furthermore, series creator Ryan Murphy also came up with Glee. That man sure does know how to torture an audience.

    "Hero of Canton"

    Show: Firefly

    Episode: "Jaynestown" (1x07)

Why, you ask? Because Jayne is apparently a gorram hero on some backwater world.

Fun Fact: I'm originally from Canton, so I sometimes like to think this song is about me. Also, it is sung in this version by Adam Baldwin himself.

"The Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor

    Show: Supernatural

    Episode: "Yellow Fever" (4x06)

    Why, you ask? Because.

Fun Fact: Supernatural is objectively the best show ever created by mankind.

"Christmas Infiltration" or "Jehovah's Most Secret Witness"

    Show: Community

    Episode: "Regional Holiday Music" (3x10)

Why, you ask? The Glee Club becomes incapacitated (again), and the study group is slowly recruited through song to take their place.

Fun Fact: Troy is played by Donald Glover who is also a successful rapper by the name of Childish Gambino. Also, this entire episode is a spoof of Glee. Also, there is this song by Alison Brie that makes me weak in the knees. Oh, and here is an anthropology rap featuring Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, and Betty White.

    "Dayman"

Show: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Episode: "Sweet Dee's Dating A Retarded Person" (3x09)

Why, you ask? Dee's dating an amateur rapper so the guys start trying to form their own musical groups.

Fun Fact: I sing this song sometimes just because.
