Science Buzz Johns Hopkins’ ongoing study of the benefits of psychedelic mushrooms renews formal research of psychedelic substances. Originally conducted in 2002, the study investigated the effects of the active drug in psychedelic mushrooms, psilocybin. According to the report that was published in 2006, two-thirds of participants surveyed ranked the experience among the top five most spiritual events in their lives. New results, gathered 14 months after the study, indicate that high percentages of volunteers continue to report lasting positive changes in life-outlook and general behavior. Hippies rejoice!
