Putin's statement is at 1:29.

Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila announced Thursday that they are divorcing after nearly 30 years of marriage.

"It was our joint decision," the Russian President said in a TV interview. He didn't give any specific reason for the end of their marriage, only saying, "We practically never saw each other. To each his own life."

Lyudmila's explanation was short and to-the-point: "I don't like publicity and flying is difficult for me."

The news came as a shock to the nation and world — right before the announcement, they appeared together at a ballet performance looking quite happy.

See?

They've always looked happy.

So, so happy.

Soooooooooooooo happy.

Really happy.

Yep.

Happy.
