    It's invisible in that the vast majority of people do not exhibit symptoms that would lead others to know or believe they were dealing with a disability. Dreamscape, check out the term 'invisible illness' because you'll totally get why that word was RIGHTLY being used.

    Lupus and other rheumatic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis are issues with an overactive immune system. One way to subdue the attacks from the immune system is to use chemotherapy drugs or biologics - Enbrel and Humira are examples you might see on commercials of the latter. They…

    Actually RA doesn't have a test for proper diagnosis. There are several types of RA, some that don't present in bloodwork as having positive rheumatoid factor. Same goes for basically all autoimmune arthritis types - lupus, juvenile arthritis, etc.

    Because lupus is a rheumatic disease, like several others - rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, etc - and they're all very similar. It takes a skilled doctor to actually pa attention to the patient as well as labs to determine which of those diseases a person has. I actually…

    Also it sounds more like you're thinking of fibromyalgia? That is very contested where lupus is not AT ALL by any sane physicians. I have fibro (which is also very real) and it's hard to get a dx.

    Lupus does have markers to test, but is often a diagnosis of exclusion. It's easier to figure out when you go to a specialist instead of (apparently a very ignorant) primary care doc. Do you do a test to figure out you have a cold? No? But you and your doc can still figure it out?…
