Infographic: Fight Club's Rules Blow Out To 5,830 Words!

In 1996, Fight Club kicked off with eight basic rules. But in the 17 years since, rules of engagement have blown out to almost 6,000 words. No fishing. No fisting. No backwards hats.

In 1996, Fight Club started with these basic rules:

The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club: Someone yells stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule: one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: no shirts, no shoes. Seventh rule: Fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

But in the 17 years since...

The club's rules now stand at a whopping 5,830 words.

Fight Club founder Tyler Durden has blamed rising insurance risks and malicious lawsuits by the rival Mild Tiff Club, but analysis of the new bloated rulebook finds the following:

9 iterations of the first rule of fight club:

You do not talk about Fight Club.

You do not talk about Fight Club

You do not talk about Fight Club.

You do not talk about Fight Club.

You do not talk about Fight Club.

You do not talk about Fight Club.

You do not talk about Fight Club.

You do not talk about fight Club.

You do not talk about fight club.

As well as bizarre rules such as:

Dress code: Anything rubber, leather, Gothic, military or PVC is acceptable, as is provocative & erotic clothing or smart wear. Caddys Must Wear White Jumpsuits. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone whose dress is not, in their opinion, appropriate.

    No backwards hats.

Due to licensing restrictions, genital nudity is not allowed at any time.

No running: Though it's a common sight at other clubs as fans scramble for the best viewing spots at each fight, running anywhere on the venue is grounds for dismissal.

Please show respect to all other people present at Fight Club.

Fighters Have Right Of Way. Stay out of the way of a scene - if you get hit by the back stroke of a whip etc, it is your fault! Please don't sit on equipment chatting as someone may want to use it to play on.

Touching people without permission will get you physically ejected from the venue.

No talking is (under any circumstances) allowed except in the Stranger's Room.

No Sexual Acts or Penetration. This includes fisting, oral sex acts, anal play and WANKING.

    No fishing either.
