"I have no explanation for such an amazing catch!" she said. "Possibly just good luck."

She said she was "terrified" when she saw the ball coming toward them.

"My first thought as the ball was coming towards us was that I better catch this ball or my son is getting hit!" she said. "Apparently Mike had the same thought and luckily he grabbed it. I was shaking for a good 30 minutes after it happened."

But then, the family got another surprise.

Phillies broadcaster Gregg Murphy came down to interview them, and offered to take their ball to be signed by former players Matt Stairs and Mike Schmidt.

"Having that as a souvenir is priceless for Kolton's first game," she said.

Alyssa Capko added that her husband has been blown away by all the attention.

"It will be a great story to tell Kolton when he gets older and show him all the articles that came out of it," she said.
