CELEBRITY BUZZ: There’s a war brewing in Malibu: Surfers are fighting the paparazzi, and it’s all because of Matthew McConaughey. A group of surfers confronted the photogs last Saturday in Malibu — they were trying to get pictures of McConaughey surfing and the locals rose to his defense. Or it may just be that surfers really hate the paps. The videos are kinda brutal, in that everyone gets really angry and then starts fighting. No charges have been pressed on either side yet, and the comments on the X-17 paparazzo site predict another round of fighting on Saturday. May the biggest idiots win!

MOVIE BUZZ: The documentary (produced by Graydon Carter, Editor In Chief of Vanity Fair) chronicles the life of Doc Paskowitz, a Jewish surfer who raised nine children with his second wife in a tiny RV (only after having graduated from Stanford, practiced medicine, and raising two daughters with his first wife). For the record, the Paskowitz kids were raised intentionally poor, prohibited from attending school, and forced to bear witness to their parents’ healthy sexual activities night after night. And yet some might argue that he leaves the film unscathed. In other words, this is no Point Break.

MOVIE BUZZ: A new book and movie are being released about Spreckles sugar heir, Clark Gable’s stepson and champion surfer Bunker Spreckles. After inheriting 50 million dollars at 25, Bunker Spreckles became “the most decadent person in surfing”. He hired a photographer to document his life as a jet-setting playboy, and by 27 he was dead.
