19-Year-Old UC Santa Barbara Student Allegedly Gang Raped And Beaten

This is the second reported gang rape of a UCSB student in two months.

A 19-year-old student from the University of California, Santa Barbara, was allegedly gang raped and beaten by three men on or near the college campus on Saturday.

The three suspects have been described as Asian males, according to an official from the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Dept., CBS reported. No arrests have been made so far.

The woman was attacked sometime between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. It is unclear if the attack took place on campus or in Isla Vista, a neighboring community populated with UCSB students.

After the attack, the woman went home and reported the rape to her roommate who then informed the police.

The victim was treated for her injuries at a hospital and is now recovering at home with her family.

The school sent texts to students warning them about a sexual assault. University police have increased patrols on campus and in the neighborhood.

This is the second alleged gang rape of a UCSB student in the area in just two months. In January, an 18-year-old student was raped by two men and a male juvenile in Isla Vista, next to the campus. The police arrested three people in connection to the incident.

According to local media, another young woman reported being sexually assaulted in Isla Vista early Saturday. She told authorities that she met her assailant outside a party at 1:30 a.m. after which he attacked her behind a car. Investigators did not know if the two crimes are connected.
