Chat show host Andy Cohen has opened up about his family's experience with the coronavirus after revealing last month that he had tested positive.

In a post on his Instagram account last month, Andy said he had tested positive "after a few days of self-quarantine and not feeling great".

Well, during an appearance on the Tonight Show on Monday, the Watch What Happens Live host opened up about his experience with the virus and had some words of advice for those at home who have also tested positive.

"I just want everybody to know, if you are diagnosed with this thing: Take it one day at a time," he said.

Andy also opened up about his reunion with his son, Benjamin, after he admitted the "very worst part" of contracting the virus was not being able to see the 1-year-old face to face.

"I don't know where he thought that I was. I think babies around his age and dogs have a similar sense of time, which is that they don't really have a sense of time," he joked.

"So when I did finally see him — and it was great — he was just delighted," Andy went on. "His face lit up."

However, he joked that Benjamin's reaction to seeing his dad for the first time in a while wasn't quite as dramatic and emotional as he was hoping.

"I'm a dramatic guy," he said. "I kind of thought that it was going to be this super-dramatic reunion. He was like, 'Here's a block! Play with me!' I was like, alright, OK, good. We're cool."
