Kylie Minogue: A Beginner's Guide For Americans

Yes, here in America we have Madonna, Britney, Gaga, and Katy, but there's always room for Kylie. With her new album, "Kiss Me Once", out on March 18th, it's time to educate your American self about pop's missing princess.

Hello! As an American, you probably have no idea who Kylie Minogue is. You could have walked right past a living legend on the street today, and not even have known. What a shame. If you do know Ms. Minogue, you probably only know one of her songs, her 2001 smash, "Can't Get You Out of My Head". Kylie is the perfect mix of Madonna's artistic integrity and Britney's Disco Queen persona, and you need her tunes in your life. To help remedy this situation, here's a handy guide with ten of Ms. Minogue's best songs from her 20+ years in the music industry.

The single that started one of the most storied careers in pop music was actually a fluke. After an impromptu performance of the song, Kylie was signed to a record label and released the song in an official capacity in 1987.

"Better the Devil You Know" (1990)

Arguably Kylie's best song, it was released as the lead single from her third studio album, "Rhythm of Love" in 1990.

"Did It Again" is from the album, "Impossible Princess", which was renamed "Kylie Minogue", (despite her last album also bearing that title), as it was set for release just after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

    "Spinning Around" (2000)

Gold Lamé has never been so synonymous with one person.

"Can't Get You Out of My Head" may have gotten all of the attention in 2001, but this catchy little song was just as progressive and hit-worthy as it's sister track on the "Fever" album.

    "Slow" (2003)

Released as the lead single from her "Body Language" album, this futuristic, slow-burn track is arguably one of the best pop songs of the 2000's.

"Spinning Around"'s ancestor from the distant future.

To be honest, every song off of 2010's "Aphrodite" is amazing, but this cheery, pulsing track is a clear standout. How this song didn't take America by storm is a mystery to me. Yet, "Gangnam Style" did. Ponder that, America.

    BONUS! "Into the Blue" (2014)
