The NYC marathon consists of over 50,000 runners completing a 26.2 mile journey through all five boroughs of New York City.

And although the marathon itself is a true challenge — trying to cross the street during the race provides its own challenge for pedestrians.

Some people tried to plan out the best way to cross.

Timing is everything when you are attempting this daring task.

For some people — sprinting was their crossing technique of choice.

Others took their time — because you know pedestrians have the right-of-way.

This man was clearly aware of the small window he had to cross.

    The determination was real.

New Yorkers don't stop for anything.

This runner was on a mission — and she was not having it.

But these New Yorkers are tough — once they crossed the street, it was time to celebrate!

Nothing can stop a New Yorker from crossing the street.

    It's just what they do.
