My Heart Aches After Watching Chadwick Boseman's Wife Accept His Golden Globe On His Behalf
"He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you, 'You can'..."
Last August, Chadwick Boseman died from colon cancer at the age of 43. Since then, the world has mourned his loss with heavy hearts.
But his legacy carries on! Tonight, he posthumously won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture for his last movie, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
Chadwick's wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, accepted the award on his behalf with a moving speech that got me sniffling.
"He would thank God, he would thank his parents, he would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices. He would thank his incredible team," she said.
"He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you, 'You can,' that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history."
"And I don't have his words. But we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love. So thank you, HFPA, for this opportunity to do exactly that. And hun, you keep 'em coming," she concluded.
Thank you, Chadwick, for continuing to inspire us all. Sending love and light to your wife and family.
